Immerse yourself in the fantastical music of Yara's planet, Mira.
The quality of your imaginative experience of The YaraStar Trilogy is a top priority. I want to share not just the words that will carry you to the planet of Mira, but the sounds and songs as well.
Kevin Licorish and I, through our music company Borderless Music Group Ltd., have co-written and co-produced the first two tracks of the book album: Sounds of Mira. We sat for countless hours understanding the materials, air, and sounds of Yara's planet and even did a rough design of a fictional instrument called the Gem Glass Drum (see below). Then, we went down into the music-making rabbit hole. What resulted is the songs you hear in the ads for The YaraStar Trilogy displayed below. |
This rough sketch is of the Gem Glass Drum from the planet of Mira. It is made using the trunk of a Saptree and the red glass shards that are naturally found in the boulders and stones. Holes are bored into the trunk and filled with varying levels of sapjuice, allowing for different vibrations (through wood and liquid) and a scale of sounds. It is a percussive instrument, beaten with a swaddled stick, and it can be heard mainly in the track called "Rhythms of Mira" from the Sounds of Mira album.
